Lab Sample Logistics Platform
A platform that runs the logistics between labs, samples and drivers: tasks, live driver tracking, sample scanning, cold-chain temperature, shipments and payments — in one dashboard.
The problem
Lab samples must move from clinics to labs quickly and at the right temperature. A late driver, a lost sample or a broken cold chain means a test has to be repeated — and sometimes a patient has to come back.
The operator needed one place to plan every pickup, see every driver and car, follow every sample, and catch problems before they become losses.
What I did
- Designed the database for tasks, samples, drivers, cars, clients, shipments and payments.
- Built tasks end to end: create, schedule, a system calendar, and alerts for delayed and unused tasks.
- Built live driver tracking, a map view and a car dashboard.
- Built sample scanning, sample tracking and a lost-samples flow.
- Built the analytics dashboard: task activity, sample temperature by range, and monthly transfers with Excel export.
- Built operation reports, shipments and money transfers.

The hard part: A huge volume of samples — and every one must be traceable.
The platform handles a very large volume of samples and tasks. At that size, a dashboard that counts everything on every page load gets slow, and a sample that is not linked to its task, driver and shipment is effectively lost.
So the database was designed around the sample’s journey: each sample belongs to a task, each task to a driver and a car, and each move is recorded. That makes it possible to scan a sample and see its full path, to flag lost samples, and to build the analytics on top of the same records.
Results
- 3 cold-chain temperature ranges tracked
- End to end sample journey from pickup to lab
- Live in daily operation
